“Once Upon A Thistle” is my homage to the highlands. It is a Scottish landscape painting of a journey, and a journey within a painting. The thistles, humble, resilient flowers brave the harsh highland winds, while the mountains seem immovable, yet they too echo with their own stories.

Thousands of feet have wandered these same paths, seen the same patch of thistles, the same snow-tipped face of the mountain, yet everyone’s story of their experience is as unique to them as the reasons that brought them there.

It’s finding beauty in gloomy weather, harsh times and lonely moments. Resilience and memory, longing and hoping. Missing home, and being home all at once. The highlands are beautifully synchronised to their own legendary rhythm.
